Veterinarians
Dr Cam Cooper
BVSc
Cam grew up on a cattle farm near Shepparton. He has always loved animals. From a young age he dedicated his career to helping animals.
Cam graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2005 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Since graduation Cam spent several years working with dairy cattle across Australia and New Zealand. In 2009 he moved to Melbourne to focus on working with small animals.
He has worked in many small animal clinics throughout Melbourne developing a vast array of medical and surgical experience. Cam enjoys all aspects of veterinary science including medical work ups, surgery, reproduction and emergency procedures. Cam has extensive experience in preparing animals for international travel. Cam regularly attends national veterinary conferences and local sympossiums to keep his skills and knowledge at the cutting edge of the profession. Allowing the best care for your pets.
Cam is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association.
In his spare time Cam enjoys spending time with his young family, bike riding, snow skiing, playing drums and renovating houses.
Cam and Pam have two dogs, Bonnie the couch loving Cavoodle and Jango the energetic German Shorthaired Pointer. Before kids Cam enjoyed attending obediance training and was proud to get to grade three.
Dr Pam Gillis
BVSc
Pam graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2005 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Since graduation Pam has worked in a small animal practice in North West Melbourne before establishing the Tullamarine Animal Hospital. Pam has extensive knowledge in both veterinary medicine and surgery. Pam has a particular interest in veterinary dentistry and enjoys educating clients on how to maintain excellent dental health in their pets. In 2019 Pam completed a twelve month distance education course in veterinary clinical pathology through Sydney University. She has also attended many national conferences.
Pam is a member of the Australian Veterinary Association.
Pam and Cam have 3 young children that attend kinder and school in the local area. Pam enjoys spending time with her family, running with the dogs and going to the gym.
Dr Karen Hui
DVM
She worked in a small animal practice in North West Melbourne before joining Tullamarine Animal Hospital. Karen’s passions include all aspects of general practice, surgery, internal medicine and rabbit medicine. She is always looking to further her knowledge and career by undertaking courses and attending conferences relating to small animals. From a multicultural background, Karen speaks 3 additional languages including Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese.
She loves building relationship with clients and being a compassionate patient advocate. Outside of work, Karen enjoys bush walking with her partner Seth, cooking, playing guitar and piano. She has a 5 year old cat ‘’TayTay’’, a foster fail and who is now spoilt rotten by the family; a little goldfish ‘’Shiro’’ adopted from the vet school prac, and a loving 10 year old mini lop ‘’Usabi’’ who recently just went over the rainbow bridge.
Dr Yat Chi Yan
DVM
Dr. Yat Chi graduated with a DVM from the University of Melbourne in 2019. She then worked in a couple of high volume, fast paced small animal GP clinics in Melbourne prior to joining the lovely team at Tullamarine Animal Hospital. Having a soft spot for cats, her keen interests are in feline behaviour and medicine. She shares her home with her cat Luna, whom she adopted straight out of Vet school. Originally from the land of the long white cloud i.e. New Zealand, outside of work she enjoys bush walking, travelling around the country and staying fit with hot Pilates.
Gemma
Practice Manager / Head Veterinary Nurse
She started her nursing career in December 2008. Since this time, she has acquired a vast array of veterinary nursing and management skills working at clinics both in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Gemma has been with the Tullamarine Animal Hospital since it opened in April 2020.
She has a strong passion for providing the best customer service to clients and prides herself in going above and beyond for clients and their pets.
Gemma is often that friendly voice that answers the phone and that friendly face that greets you at our front desk.
Gemma has a VERY handsome Hungarian Vizsla named Parker, a slightly overweight cat called Felix, Murray the Turtle and two very spoilt Shetland Ponies Danny and Stevie.
Gemma and her partner Michael have 2 young children Nate & Willow so this keeps her very busy outside of work.
Rebecca
Practice Manager / Head Veterinary Nurse
Rebecca has experienced most types of animals having had a cat during her childhood and then two birds and two dogs with her husband.
Rebecca’s tip for pet owners:

Edgar
Veterinary Nurse
In 1991, after graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine at De LaSalle Araneta University, Edgar migrated to Australia to start a new life with his wife and now children.
Initially starting out in a private laboratory within the Department of Health Supervision and Guidelines, after five years Edgar accepted a job at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital where he would spend the next twenty years honing his incredible skills, going from veterinary nurse, to senior nurse, to senior lead nurse of surgery. Edgar had an amazing career at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital, one that he cherishes deeply, getting to experience more than 600,000+ surgeries including orthopaedic as well as soft tissue.
He joined the Tullamarine Animal Hospital at the end of 2022 and has become an integral part of our surgery and animal care team. His wealth of knowledge and understanding for numerous surgical procedures has been a fantastic addition.
Edgar believes that the opportunity to learn each day is always there for us to grab, it is a never ending learning process and you can never think that your knowledge is far better than the other person, as this person may know something that we didn’t. Life sometimes teaches us humility in order for us to humble ourselves to others.
Melissa
Veterinary Nurse
Melissa has always known she wanted to work with animals and began her nursing journey in 2019.
She loves the rewarding challenges of the job and having the ability to make the time that animals spend in hospital easier and more comfortable.
At home she has 2 cats, her childhood cat Garf who is now 10 years old, and a new addition Kaia who is only 3.
